Ducky Dynasty — Culture of Faith, Family, and Ducks
Future Tense…”And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!”
IF by Rudyard Kipling
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
‘ Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!
– Mine – on loan from their Heavenly Father! 🙂
Jesus, help and guide us in this GIANT responsibility You have given Matt and I!
As a mother of daughters, I was particularly interested in this…
Modesty Checklist from Carolyn Mahaney (a very powerful speaker) and her three daughters. They are the wife and daughters of C.J. Mahaney of Sovereign Grace Ministries, Gaithersburg, MD. www.sovereigngraceministries.org.
I really like where it starts:
First, it’s time for a heart check…
“How does a woman discern the sometimes fine line between proper dress and dressing to be the center of attention? The answer starts in the intent of the heart. A woman should examine her motives and goals for the way she dresses. Is her intent to show the grace and beauty of womanhood? Is it to reveal a humble heart devoted to worshipping God? Or is it to call attention to herself and flaunt her beauty? Or worse, to attempt to lure men sexually? A woman who focuses on worshipping God will consider carefully how she is dressed, because her heart will dictate her wardrobe and appearance.” John MacArthur [emphasis added]
This is one of the wonderful things about the web. We are all connected even though we have never met and may never meet. I don’t personally know the Mahaney family, but I can still learn from them. I may not know you, but I can still pass along advice that I found helpful.
Those in the MODsquad might want to check this one out!
A video I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose. I’m sharing this on my blog mainly so I wouldn’t lose it. However, I think you’ll enjoy and grow from this also. So, take the time to really watch this; you won’t regret it!
Happy New Year and God bless! 🙂
Winter – a time for snowmen and snow angels!…
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 9,800 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
As soon I saw this challenge I knew the picture I wanted to use! …
